Swallow's Broadway career began by performing in a variety of shows that included High Fidelity (as well as King Lear and The Taming of the Shrew), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Guthrie Theater. The off-Broadway productions included Romantic Poetry (as well Shakespeare in the Park) and Measure for Pleasure, which were two world premieres.
