She was initially inspired by the shadows that were cast onto grass. After a few weeks she came up with a technique that did not render the chosen object on canvas as an image that was flat. When the objects are alive or perishable, such as fruit and even people and other objects, they are transformed into paintings of them. Alexa's style of painting is ephemeral, the only thing that remains of Alexa Meade's art is her photographs. Trompe-l'oeil art is created through the combination of two methods of photographing and painting. This creates a flattened, two dimensional photograph. Meade is also able to integrate her painted models within the 3-dimensional space around them. Their interaction as well as the world they created is possible. It eliminates any distinction between painting, photography and installation.
